This descendent of Golden Delicious was developed in the Mutsu Province of Japan in the 1930's. Sometime later it was rechristened "Crispin," but now it's marketed under both names. I think Mutsu has a better ring to it. Crispin sounds too much like Pippin (another variety) which will presumably show up on this blog one of these days...
